    Full Threaded Stud Bolts:

    Stud bolts are threaded rods used in Chemical, Oil and Petrochemical Industries for high pressure flange connections. Flanges are fastened together with the help of stud bolts and nuts. The nuts used in the tightening of flanges are generally of hexagon or heavy hexagon type depending upon the pressure and other piping system requirements. Flange connections are also fastened with traditional solutions like Hex Bolts. Hex bolts are very similar to stud bolts in terms of threading but have a forged hexagon head. However stud bolts are preferred over hex Bolt because during tightening and toque application, studs do not twist.


    ASME B16.5 is primarily the dimensional standard for ASTM Stud bolts. This defines the Dimensional requirement primarily i.e. length and the diameter of stud Bolt to be used for the tightening of flanges.Whereas ASME B1.1 defines the threading requirements. Most commonly used thread form is the symmetrical V profile thread with 60 degree angle.     ASTM A193 Gr B7

    ASTM A193 Gr B7 stud Bolt are manufactured from chromium molybdenum ferritic alloy. B7 stud bolt have a standard temperature range of minus 29 degree Celsius to 427 degree Celsius and are used in flanges of standard ASTM A105. Recommended nuts for b7 stud bolts are grade 2H Hex nuts.

    GRADE B7 stud bolts are generally supplied in finishes such as Plain,Blackening,Zinc plated(Electroplated),Cadmium(Yellow),Teflon coating(blue) etc according to the nature of application and environment.

    ASTM A193 B16 Stud Bolts

    Grade B16 stud bolt are used in high temperature & high pressure environment.These Stud Bolts are very similar to Grade B7 Stud bolts but the alloy contains an additional element called Vanadium.     Why Do We Roll Thread Our Stud Bolt?

    Roll Threading is a superior process to make threads on stud bolts & other fasteners. Roll Threading stud bolts result in better finish of threads on stud bolts. It also makes the stud bolts & fasteners more stable structurally because no internal damage is been done unlike cut threading.There is practically no wastage due to stud bolts which lowers the cost of production and the stud bolts become more affordable for the end user. Because the threads are rolled ASTM A193 B7 Stud Bolts & ASTM A193 B16 Stud Bolts are roll threaded for superior.

    As a domestic fastener manufacturer, there are few standards as important ASTM FASTENER SPECIFICATIONS and relevant as ASTM A193/A193M.  ASTM A-193 is a specification from the Association of Standards & Materials that primarily govern industrial piping applications, and thereby the construction of many industrial projects around the world.  In the assembly of an industrial plant, many complex components are bolted together of which include parts such as valves, piping, & pressure vessels.  Thus, ASTM A193 defines the methodology to procure and certify externally threaded fasteners according to specific chemical and mechanical criteria.  It is standards such as this that allow industrial process applications to be safely engineered so they do not exceed the tensile strength of the fasteners that hold them together.

    COMMON ASTM FASTENER SPECIFICATIONS FASTENER GRADES INCLUDE:

    ASTM A193 Grade B7 Chromium Molybendum steel, normally AISI 4140, heat treated to 28-32Rockwell Hardness, 125,000 PSI tensile strength, 105, 000 PSI yield. It will hold it’s strength to 1000 degrees F. This grade of studbolts are engineered to mate with ASTM A194 Grade 2H Heavy Hex Nuts.

    ASTM A193 Grade B7

    ASTM A193 Grade B7M It has the same chemistry as B7. Physicals have max hardness of 235 Brinell or RC22. 100,000 PSI tensile and 80,000 PSI yield. Used in areas where H2S is present.
