Difference between SS 304 bright bar and black bar

The bright bar is a polished or finished metallic bar where the black bar has no finishing or polishing applied. The 304 material is an austenitic stainless steel. It is a chromium nickel alloy with 18% chromium and 8% nickel. When produced, if no polishing or finishing is done, the bar looks blackish with and raw. There are finishing options such as bright bar, electropolishing, galvanizing, painting and zinc coating. The bright bar is used in applications that also have an aesthetic appeal and the need for oxidation resistance on the surface. The black bar is used in structural elements where the look or the oxidation are not primary concerns.
