Engines, particularly those belonging to the aircraft category i.e Jet engines are a part of a system that has frequent exposure to both extremely high as well as low temperatures when in use. Which is why parts produced from ASME SB444 UNS N06625 prove to be very valuable.
For illustration, let us take the example of a flying aircraft. At a height of 36,000 ft. the average air temperature stands at about -56.3°C. However, at this altitude, the engines that are running are a part of the aircraft are undergoing a combustion process.
The temperature of this combustion process rounds about at 1,150°C, which is very high. One could say that this application calls for fluctuation of temperatures, which requires parts such as the ASTM B444 grade 2 seamless pipe to support its function. Moreover, the heat and low temperature tolerance of the Inconel 625 pipe is far comparable to traditional grades. Hence, clients belonging to the aircraft industry prefer using the Inconel 625 seamless pipe.
Another reason why the Inconel 625 welded pipes proves to be an investment to the aircraft industry is that the alloy can withstand higher stress levels as well. At our factory, each ASTM B444 UNS N06625 is required to undergo hydrostatic testing. The testing analysis of the ASTM B444 grade 1 pipes are to conform to the allowable fibre stress. Furthermore, as prescribed by this specification, we also examine this grade of ASTM B444 pipes with a nondestructive electric test.

Inconel 625 Seamless pipe sizes are different than welded pipe. In seamless the maximum OD is 16 inch but in welded don’t have such limitations.

ASTM B444 UNS N06625 pipe advantages
The ASTM B444 material, also known as the alloy 625 is a nickel chromium molybdenum columbium alloy. Due to the composition, it has higher mechanical properties. It has tensile strengths over 827MPa. The annealing of the material makes it lose some impact strength but provides high tensile and yield strengths. It can have 100ksi of tensile strength in low temperatures and about 94ksi at a 1000 degrees Celsius. The yield strength ranges up to 40ksi. Since the material is corrosion resistant, heat resistant and oxidation resistant at high temperatures, it is best fit for high temperature services such as the heat exchangers, boilers and super heaters.
