Difference between ASTM A276 type 316 bar and A479 grade 316 rod? which is better for pump shaft in salty water?

The a276 specification covers hot or cold finished stainless steel bars that are applicable for reforging. The a479 specification is for rods that are suitable for pressure vessels and boilers. There are different material grades ranging from 304 to 347 in both these specifications. The 316 is also included and it has high corrosion resistant properties with high chloride corrosion resistance. The salty water has chloride ion in abundance so that the 316 material is appropriate. The pump shaft has to operate in a pressurized environment. So the A479 grade 316 rod is better for pump shaft in salty water.
