Type 17-4PH stainless steel is the most widely used of all the precipitation-hardening stainless steels. This stainless alloy’s valuable combination of properties comes primarily from alloying iron with chromium, nickel and copper. Type 17-4PH is a martensitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel that provides an outstanding combination of high strength, good corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties at temperatures up to 600°F (316°C).
17-4 PH is ideal in applications where extreme strength is required. 17-4 PH is not suited to extremely high or low temperatures, and is therefore not suitable for use in cryogenic applications or for use at temperatures above 572 degrees Fahrenheit. Used in the aerospace, medical, food processing and energy industries, alloy 17-4 PH is a superb choice for structural components of airplanes, biomedical hand tools, food processing equipment, pulp and paper mill processing and nuclear waste processing and storage.
Raaj Sagar can advise you on your stainless steel tubing needs, no matter how tight your design tolerances. We machine custom 17-4PH tubing in sizes from smaller than 1” OD to over 5”. What other manufacturing and machine shops may call impossible, we call the new standard of excellence in custom precision tubing.
