The Difference Between Round Bar and Precision Ground Bar
Round bar is exactly as it sounds; a long, cylindrical metal bar. Round bar is available in many different diameters ranging from 1/4" up to 24".
Precision ground bar is manufactured through induction hardening. Induction hardening is a non-contact heating process which uses electromagnetic induction to produce the required heat. Centerless ground bar is typically produced by turning and grinding the surface to a specified size.
Precision Ground Bar, also known as ‘Turned Ground and Polished’ shafting, refers to round bars made with fine precision and high-quality steel. They are polished to ensure flawless and perfectly straight surfaces. The manufacturing process is designed for extremely close tolerances for surface finish, roundness, hardness, and straightness which ensures a long service life with reduced maintenance.

Stainless Steel Round Bar Standard Sizes
In metallurgy, Stainless Steel Bright Bar is also called inox steel. ASTM A479 SS Round Bars is a steel alloy that contains a maximum of 1.2% carbon or a minimum of 10.5% chromium. Stainless Steel Forged Bar is used in many industries, because of its resistance to corrosion. The resistance of SS Flat Bar to corrosion increases, with the increase in its chromium content. By adding molybdenum, it increases the resistance of SS Cold Drawn Round Bar. All kinds of ASTM A276 SS Threaded Bar are capable of resisting attacks from nitric acid and phosphoric acid, at room temperature. Stainless steel round bar standard sizes are different and their requirement is based upon their use in various industries and applications.
Stainless Steel Bar Weight
Stainless steel 304 and 316 round bars can withstand attacks from weak bases like ammonium hydroxide, even at high temperatures and high concentrations. All grades of Stainless Steel Flat Bar can resist attacks from amines and aldehydes. Stainless steel bar weight can easily be measured by using an online calculator, which is free to use. Non-magnetic stainless steels are annealed austenitic steels. By work hardening, Austenitic Stainless Steel Black Bar can become a little magnetic. With flat rolled stainless steel rods, standard mill finishes can be applied directly to mechanical abrasives and rollers.
